Stripe Connect Powers Every Payment
StackD uses Stripe Connect to securely handle all financial transactions on the platform. Every payment is milestone-based — not hourly — which means contractors get paid when deliverables are approved, not when hours are logged.
When an operator approves a milestone, funds are released directly to the contractor's Stripe account and automatically transferred to their bank. Operators fund milestones through their saved payment method when they approve work.
This milestone-based structure is a core part of how StackD is designed around DOL 6-Factor compliance — it reinforces project-based engagement rather than employment-pattern billing.
For Contractors
Getting Set Up & Getting Paid
Stripe Onboarding
During StackD signup, you'll connect a Stripe account. Stripe verifies your identity, business details, and bank account for payouts. This is required before you can submit bids.
Getting Paid
Submit your deliverable, the operator reviews and approves it, and funds are released to your Stripe balance. From there, funds automatically transfer to your bank account.
Payout Timing
After a milestone is approved, funds hit your Stripe balance immediately. Standard Stripe payout to your bank account takes 2 business days.
What You Need
A business bank account, EIN or SSN for identity verification, and a valid business address. Stripe walks you through each step during onboarding.

Payment Method
Add a card or bank account during onboarding. This payment method is charged when you approve milestones.
How Billing Works
When you approve a milestone, the contractor's bid amount plus the platform fee is charged to your payment method. No surprises.
Platform Fee
A transparent percentage shown at contract creation. The fee is charged to operators — contractors receive the full bid amount.
Invoice Access
Every milestone approval generates a record visible in your Financials dashboard. Export anytime for accounting.

Yes. Stripe handles all sensitive financial data. StackD never stores bank account numbers or card details — everything is processed through Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.

What if my Stripe onboarding is incomplete?expand_more
